Most touring kayaks and some
recreational kayaks are
designed to be used with a
sprayskirt. A spray skirt
prevents water from entering
the cockpit in rough
conditions, when edging
(leaning your kayak) or
rolling. Sprayskirts come in
two types of material, nylon
or neoprene. Nylon skits are
easier to get on your boat
while neoprene skirts fit much
tighter and provide a better
