Clavey Thole Pins are the best available. Made from hardened steel with a stainless steel sleeve - the top ball is made from a UV and impact-resistant thermo plastic and can be screwed off for replacement or when removing the oars.

When using a Pin and Clip oar system the oar has a U shaped clip clamped onto it (see oar accessories) that fits onto a Thole Pin thus holding the oar feathered and positioned at all times. When using a Pin and Clip system we highly recommend a pair of Oar Stirrups to help keep the oars in the boat when they have popped off the Thole Pin.
