Clavey Paddlesports Update Spring 2021

This last year of the COVID-19 Pandemic has brought around a lot of changes for our industry. One of the silver linings of this unusual year is that many more people want to get outside and be on the water! But such an unprecedented high demand for paddling gear has brought around many challenges.

Once manufacturers reopened they had a hard time keeping up with production. Increased production demands affected the supply chains which resulted in many items that we sell to be backordered for weeks and even months! In addition shipping and transportation constraints have contributed to the limited supplies in paddling gear. But on the bright side…WE’RE STILL HERE AND OPEN FOR BUSINESS!

Store Hours and Ways To Shop

  • We are open for in person shopping Thursday-Monday, 10am – 4pm.
  • CLOSED Tuesday and Wednesday.
  • We are still following COVID precautions in the store and require that you wear a mask, use hand sanitizer when entering, and observe social distancing. If you’ve been fortunate enough to be vaccinated these safety precautions still apply. We appreciate your cooperation.
  • Curbside pickup is still an option.
  • You can also order from our website for pickup or delivery.

Kayak rentals have returned this season!

  • We’ve replenished our rental fleet with a handful of boats, but quantities are limited and reservations are recommended.
  • We also have stand up paddleboards for rent.

Classes and Tours

  • Classes and Tours have begun again though spaces are limited.
  • We follow a COVID safety regime for classes and tours.
  • Our popular Bioluminescence kayak tour is current sold out.

The Supply Chain For Kayaks and Paddling Gear

  • As we mentioned, COVID related supply chain problems continue to be an issue.
  • Inventory levels for kayaks, paddleboards, paddles, lifejackets and other accessories (including car racks) are in short supply right now, and probably will be all season.
  • We expect to sell out of many models and brands of kayaks and paddleboards this summer.
  • We’re working hard to keep product on the shelves, but our best advice to our customers is: “If we have it, and you want it, don’t delay buying it because we’ll sell out before too long”. We’re always happy to store your kayak or board until you can pick it up.
  • If we don’t have a model of kayak in stock that you’re looking for, we may have it on order with the factory, and we’re taking deposits on incoming orders for those kayaks.

Product Availability Recap

This timeline may very well change, but this is the best estimate we have right now

  • Inflatable kayaks are here now, but stock is getting low-more should arrive in June.
  • Inflatable Standup Paddleboards are in stock, but will go fast with more hopefully arriving in June.
  • Rigid Standup Paddleboards are expected in the next 3 weeks. We expect to have 10.6” and 11.6” models.
  • Limited models of Delta kayaks will be available in July and August.
  • Limited models of Eddyline kayaks will be available in August.
  • Old Town Sportsman Pedal Drive kayaks are on order for August.
  • Ocean Kayak Venus sit on top kayaks should arrive in August.

Whitewater Rafts & Gear

  • In the whitewater rafting world, rafts & inflatables are for the most part sold out until later this summer, but there may some availability depending on model.
  • Same for most accessories including rowing frame, oars etc. If you are looking at getting a raft this season let us know and we’ll do our best to get ahold of one for you.

We look forward to helping you get on the water in 2021, and we thank all of our customers for their support and patience in helping us get through these unusual times.
